Reading Too Many Books Again

I have this bad habit of reading too many books at once.  I start with one and then one day decide I need to read a different genre or switch between fiction and non-fiction and before I know it, I am reading three or four different books at once. I got it under control last year as I had a goal to read a specific number of books which really made me finish one book before I started the next.  At the moment I am reading two books - "Simplicity" by Bill Hybels and "A Good, Clean, Murder" but I…

Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Today I watched "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" and "Rosemary's Baby" part of watching the "Top 100 Films of All Time".  I had seen neither of these movies before and both are great thrillers though they are very different from each other with "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" relying more on special effects than "Rosemary's Baby" which is more of the supernatural thriller variety. Anyway, with these two I am up to eighty movies out of one hundred.  So only twenty to go and still have two or three to watch at home. On another note, I didn't end up…

Finished Garage Sales Goal

Today I finished my garage sales goal.  I was fortunate that there was a few that were only listed in the classifieds on Saturday morning which got me to the sixteen I needed. I did have one extra to go to but by nearly 1pm I had had enough. I ended up driving a lot driving nearly 200 kilometres in my attempt to finish this goal. Like normal the best sales were the ones I got to early although admittedly the first one was a bit of a disappointment as it was just after 6am and they didn't have a…

More Garage Sales Tomorrow

I have sixteen garage sales to go until I can finish my goal of going to 50 or more garage sales so it would have been really advantageous if there were sixteen garage sales to go to tomorrow. Sadly, this isn't the case. There are only twelve on tomorrow.  Of course if I am willing to travel, I could do it but it depend on: What the weather is like.  With storms tonight and similar bad weather forecast for tomorrow, it may not be worth the trip as I don't much enjoy the thought of taking my car through a…

Oscar Winning Movies

Today, I watched a few Oscar winning movies of recent years including "The Hurt Locker", "Crash" and "Slumdog Millionaire".  I know I had seen parts of "Slumdog Millionaire" before but wasn't sure if I had seen the whole movie but it was good to see it again. I had never seen "Crash" or "The Hurt Locker" and both were worthy recipients of the Oscar for their respective years.  I think I am now up to thirty two Oscar winning movies out of eighty-seven so still quite a few to go and once this year's Oscars are over it will be…

Thunderstorms and Rainbows Threatening

With over eighty percent humidity there is a good chance of a thunderstorm in the next day or so and with it a chance to follow a rainbow.  Unfortunately I am going to be pretty busy for the next day or two but I am going to make sure I have plenty of fuel in my car in case I do get the chance. Today I watched a couple more movies - Saving Private Ryan and I am halfway through Rocky at the moment which I will probably finish tomorrow night.  I also have six DVD's I need to watch…

Follow a Rainbow

Why You Should "Follow A Rainbow" I love this idea for a bucket list goal - one it is very cheap to do but it also is a way of reliving your childhood - did you ever wonder what was at the end of a rainbow? Of course another think about this goal is that it is pretty hard to manufacture it, to plan it or to "think it out".  You simply have to wait for the rain to come before any chance of a rainbow appearing can occur. The other thing is that rain can occur at the most…

AFI’s Top 100 Films

One of the things I recently added to my bucket list was to watch the entire list of the American Film Institute's (AFI) Top 100 Films.  At the moment I am up to 52 films having completed number fifty two this evening - Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? A lot of these lists can ended up having the same movies on each of these but "Who' Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" is one that is not on any of the other lists and one that I have never seen before.  Watching it, you realise what a magnificent pair of actors Elizabeth Taylor…

Terminator and Batman among other things.

Between housework and other things I simply had to do today, I made time to watch a few movies. The reason being is that they are on the Top 200 Highest Grossing Films of All Time.  This list isn't like most lists as it has been adjusted ticket prices for inflation.  Otherwise "Gone With The Wind" may have been much further down the list then it's current position of number one. I have seen 126 of these movies at last count and this includes the following movies I watched over the weekend: My Big Fat Greek Wedding Batman Returns and…

More Garage Sales

It certainly is the season for garage sales with no less than twenty-four of them available this morning.  Of course to go to twenty-four garage sales takes a bit of planning and dedication but I didn't make it to all of them. I did however make it to sixteen of them.  The down side was that most of them started at 7am.  Other weekends the times have been nicely staggered between 6am and 9am allowing time between each one.  Not so today where I would say twelve of the garage sales started at 7am. My morning however began much earlier…
