When I was in primary school we went on a long hike through some of Lamington National Park.  I think from memory it was a five kilometres in total which is pretty long for a nine to ten year old (these sort of things are relative after all).  As some national parks do in Australia this one was mostly dense rain forest and we had to make sure we had plenty of skin protection and particularly protection from leeches.  I’d never walked so far in my whole life and my journey through the national park has inspired me as I’ve gotten older to do more bush walking and to appreciate more of Australia’s natural beauty.
