Finding Time

Time is very elusive.  Before we realise it, we've come to end of another weekend and if you are like most people you don't realise what you spent all that time on. The weekdays on the other hand seem to drag on endlessly like they'll never end. If you have done any time management skills/training or courses one of the frequent things you'll learn is to spend a week writing down everything you do.  This does two things: It takes a lot of time (I really don't have time to write down everything I do) and It can be overwhelming…

Making Continual Progress

One of the things that is really important to me is continual progress. I want to be continually making progress towards my goals, towards my dreams and achieving my vision for my life. When it comes to my bucket list I want to be continually working on something that gets me closer to my bucket list goals. Progress I have a few things on my list that are long term goals. Some are reading all the books from some of favourite authors.  This can not be accomplished, in a week or a month. It takes longer than year in most…

What Goals Have You Set For 2016?

Today is the 1st January, 2016 and usually the day that people everywhere start setting new years' resolutions.  What are your goals for the year?  Some people will tell you that they don't buy into the whole new years' resolutions things which is fine but you should have a goal and if you can more than one. If you don't have a goal you can be in danger of letting the year float by and then be faced with another new years' eve of contemplating what you didn't accomplish this year. So, if you are serious about achieving your dreams…

Shaking Up Your Routine

Yesterday was the first day in about a month that I didn't write a blog post.  Up to that point I'd had a fairly entrenched routine even if I did end up writing blog posts at different times of the day.  However over the last week I've found it more and more difficult to find the right inspiration to write effectively.  And with Christmas so close I decided to skip a day yesterday and it was very refreshing. I think after a while of doing the same things day after day we need to shake up your routine and either…

Not Overcommitting Yourself

It is very easy this time of year to over commit yourself.  You find yourself with more and more Christmas get togethers, have to find time to do the usual Christmas stuff - buy presents, get the house ready, make travel plans that it's easy to find yourself over committed and the regular things that you need to get done, don't get done. So what do you do? There really are only three choices: Say yes to less obligations/commitments Hire someone to help you with your regular obligations or Accept that some things won't get done until the new year.…

What’s your time gap?

I started thinking one day about all the times I have inside a week where I end up waiting for something whether it be at the doctor's office, the supermarket or just driving in the car not doing everything. I actually did an experiment on this a few years ago and logged all the times I was waiting for something or just driving and at the time came up with 7 hours of unused time a week.  If I could put that time to good use I could end up getting more out of each week and out of my life.…

Make It Happen

Are you making it happen? One of the favourite apps on my phone is "Make It Happen" and I just love the name and everything it conjures up.  It is my philosophy on life.  We have to make it happen because if we don't everything happens to us and we end up going in a direction in life that we never intended. There is a favourite quote of mine.  It's by Lewis Carroll: If you don't know where you're going, any road will get you there. The Road You Travel Too often in my own life I have failed to…

Setting time limits for yourself without losing the plot

Making the most of your time is the key to accomplishing everything you want to accomplish.  I work from home and it is very easy for time to get wasted.  I could easily get to the end of the day and find I've got nothing done. I tried having task lists but all that would happen was that they wouldn't get done and I'd put things off until the next day.  Not a productive solution! It is only when I started setting time limits for myself that I started to be more productive.  I knew what I needed to do…

How To Sort Out Ideas For Your Bucket List

Sometimes the problem that we have is having too many ideas to chose from.  There are so many possibilities in life out there that it can be hard to make a decision. You then have two choices: Add everything and end up with a crazy, long bucket list that you may never get done and you may end up hating it by the end of it OR Get the scissors and pull it apart and make sure you include only things you are passionate about. I chose the first part option but I have selected things that I want to do…

Finding That First Thing To Add To Your Bucket List

When I started making a bucket list, do you know what was the hardest part? Starting. Everything I thought of didn't seem worthy enough or important enough to go on a bucket list.  I also wanted things on there that would make people say, "look at that, that's cool". I was still wrapped up in what other people thought. But I was forgetting the most important person in this process, ME. So if someone asks me what they should put on their bucket list, I never give a straight answer because a bucket list is a list of dreams and…
