Time Keeps Marching On

It is a fact of life that the one thing you can't stop is time.  I am really focused at the moment of not including things in my schedule that don't add value to what I want to do or where I can't add value to others. I don't want to spend my life doing things just because I can't say no to people.   Is there something in your schedule that you need to say no to? To me, that's what a bucket list is all about - a list of things we want to spend our life pursuing.…

Plan Your Life Or Your Life Plans You

To some it may seem that I plan a lot of things in my life and I do, I make no apology for that.  This for me has always been borne out of the frustration of seeing people waste their life rather than doing something meaningful with it. I don't want to do that, that's why I created a bucket list so I can spend my life doing things I want to do. What is your motivation for your bucket list? Regardless, you can be sure that if you don't create a plan and be intentional about what you are…

Where Are You Headed?

Today marks the 1st March and it is scary to think that two months of the year have already gone.  What is even scarier is to think of all the things you could have accomplished.  February is typically the month where new years' resolutions get abandoned and we fall in the patterns and habits of life but it doesn't have to be this way. My quote for the day was by Jodi Picoult: If we don't change the direction we are headed, we will end up where we are going. The one thing I have learnt in life is that…

Oscar Movie Marathon

Today I continued my theme from yesterday of watching Oscar winning movies.  I started with "Unforgiven" because I didn't stay up to watch it last night.  Then I watched "No Country For Old Men" this afternoon as well as "Going My Way" and later tonight finished up with "Gladiator". Unforgiven I started watching this today, mainly because I was so tired last night, I promptly went to bed.  The unfortunate part was that it stopped me watching the Oscars but I had the live stream going on my computer.  Anyway, back to the movie.  About a third of the way…

Oscar Movie Night Tonight

I live in Australia so the Oscars actually start mid Monday morning which is a pain for most people in Australia as they are on while they are at work.  I will too have work on then so I will probably watch the replay Monday evening but to prepare I had a Oscar movie night tonight. In the lead up to the Oscars TCM and Fox Classics have been replaying Oscar winning movies and tonight was no exception. Mutiny on the Bounty The night has started with "Mutiny on the Bounty" the story of the mutiny on the Bounty starring…

Use your weekend wisely

If you work full time or like most people, are just really busy during the week, the weekend is the time to kick back and relax. And it always seems to go too soon with nothing to show for it.  If we want a comparable level of productivity that we find with our weekday we need to make plans for our weekend rather than just chill out in front of the TV all day. This is where you can incorporate your bucket list.  Say for example that you want to learn another language.  Make an appointment for a few hours…

The Annoying Thing About Hot Weather

Is it makes it very difficult to sleep so I am blogging instead. Today I got my exam results and I passed both units which is great.  Plus I actually improved in my second assignment from my first in Strategic Management which was very pleasing.  Especially considering I spent all of two days on it. So now three to go! I actually used Strategic Management to test a theory.  The theory was "Could I pass a unit by focusing on assignments only and ignoring weekly study?" The answer was yes, I could do it but not pass very well.  Anyway…

Focus determines your level of success

I can try and do 10 things at once during the day and at the end of it get nothing done but if I focus on two or three I am more likely to get them done rather than getting 10% of 10 things done. The reason is our brains just work better when we can focus on one thing at a time.  So if you are trying to 10 things at once at work, try simplifying it and get one thing done then move on to the next. The same applies for bucket lists.  Although I might have other…

More of the best movies of all time

Today I finished another movie on the top 100 movies of all time with "Eyes Without A Face".  I would describe but really the title says it all.  If you look it up on the Internet Movie Database you will see what I mean.  I am now up to eight two movies out of one hundred and I do have one more at home that I have yet to watch - "The Last Picture Show" which is probably on my to do list sometime in the next few days as it is due to be returned on Saturday. I also…

Some of the best Oscar winning movies

If you go through the list of Oscar nominated movies each year you realise how many great movies miss out on an Oscar simply because they had the misfortune to be released when some other great movie was released. I would pick out one or two but it didn't seem fair to exclude a whole list of others but I think a great idea for a bucket list goal would be to see every Oscar nominated movie for best picture.  You would be able to relive an amazing amount of movies, see ones you had never seen before and it…
